De De Pyaar De 2 Box Office Day 8: Ajay Devgn’s Film Drops In Second Weekend As New Releases Take Lead
De De Pyaar De 2, starring Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh and R Madhavan, released on November 14. The rom-com had a strong first week and crossed the ₹50 crore mark at the box office.
But as new films hit the theatres, the movie is now facing tough competition.
Second Weekend Hit by New Releases
Two new titles 120 Bahadur and Mastiii 4 arrived in cinemas this week. Their arrival has reduced screen count for De De Pyaar De 2, and this has clearly affected its earnings.
Day 8 Collection:
On its second Friday, the film earned ₹2.25 crore.
Interestingly, the new Hindi releases also opened in a similar range:
120 Bahadur – ₹2.35 crore opening
Mastiii 4 – ₹2.50 crore opening
Even though DDPD 2 is a holdover release, it’s still running close to both new films. But the drop in numbers is noticeable.
Occupancy Report for Day 8:
The film’s theatre occupancy on Day 8 looked like this:
Morning shows – 7%
Afternoon shows – 11%
Evening shows – 15%
To become a box-office hit, the film now needs strong collections in the coming days despite the growing competition.
Story and Cast: Ajay Devgn and R Madhavan Reunite
The first film, De De Pyaar De (2019), followed Ashish (Ajay Devgn), a 50-year-old man who falls in love with Ayesha (Rakul Preet), a much younger woman. Their relationship faced disapproval from Ashish’s family and his ex-wife, Manju (Tabu).
What The Sequel Offers:
Directed by Anshul Sharma, the sequel continues the journey of Ashish and Ayesha. This time, she takes him to meet her family.
R Madhavan plays Ayesha’s father, adding a new twist to the story.
Ajay Devgn and Madhavan were last seen together in the successful horror film Shaitaan, and their reunion is one of the highlights of the sequel.
