Tesla is expanding its AI chip design team at a fast pace. Led directly by Elon Musk, the company is working on building custom hardware for self-driving cars and humanoid robots. Musk says Tesla aims to launch a new AI chip every year and eventually produce more chips than all other AI chip makers combined.
Tesla Hiring AI Chip Designers
Tesla is now recruiting skilled AI chip designers as part of Musk’s plan to lead the future of custom AI hardware. The company is looking for experts in AI-powered chip design to help automate electronic design systems.
These hires will work on technologies for:
* Advanced autonomous driving
* Safety systems that could reduce road accidents
* Humanoid robots designed for tasks like healthcare support

In a long post on X, Musk said Tesla already has a strong AI chip and engineering team. According to him:
* Tesla has built and deployed millions of AI chips in its cars and data centers
* These chips power Tesla’s real-world AI leadership
* Tesla’s current car chip is AI4
* AI5 is almost ready
* Work on AI6 has already begun
Musk added that the goal is to bring a new AI chip into mass production every 12 months. He said Tesla expects to build chips at higher volumes than all existing AI chip makers in the future.
